History

Introduction

The history of Zavidia begins in 2021 when it emerges as a project, focused on the creation of a country, although without a specific name or form initially.

The idea of creating a new nation had various motives, but the main one was the desire to be remembered, to be the protagonist of a significant event, to help people, and to create a new place where life could be better.

The project started by analyzing the ideal location for the establishment of Zavidia. Initially, the idea was to create a maritime platform in international waters, similar to Sealand or The Island of Roses but on a larger scale and located in the South Atlantic. However, after a quick analysis of the expenses and investments that would be required, this option was discarded, and the focus shifted to a terrestrial settlement.

The project began by analyzing the ideal location for the establishment of Zavidia. Initially, a green and quiet valley located in Angola, a country in Central Africa with abundant jungle, was considered. However, upon researching the area, it was discovered that due to the long civil war in Angola (1975-2002), almost the entire Angolan jungle was covered with landmines. Additionally, Angola had a strong military presence and a strict communist regime. Therefore, it was ruled out as a potential location.

Later, Namibia, a country south of Angola with vast uninhabited land, was proposed. However, after a brief investigation, it was concluded that the location was not suitable for settlement. The only available area, avoiding the use of the country's numerous wildlife reserves, turned out to be an uninhabitable desert, leading to the rejection of the proposal.

Later, Spain, a country in Western Europe with approximately 426,000 square kilometers of uninhabited land, was considered. This would provide Zavidia with land near Europe (being located within it). However, it would also pose problems, as Spain had a powerful army and an efficient government that would quickly and non-violently put an end to any Zavidian settlement.

Finally, the jungle of Suriname was chosen, a small country in South America located between Guyana and French Guiana. This country, unknown to many, had approximately 96% of its territory covered by jungle, with only about 3% of it inhabited. Additionally, the government was not very strict and did not control a large part of the country. The military was simple and small, which would be of great help for the Zavidian settlement in its tropical forests.

Zavidia ultimately settled several kilometers south of Avanavero, a small settlement in the jungle, and west of Kabalebo, a luxurious resort.

PLANNED ERA

4/26/2022 – 12/21/2023

After thorough planning, on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the foundational document of Zavidia was created. Work began with a diverse group of collaborators of all ages and backgrounds. This marked the beginning of the planned era of Zavidia. Leveraging platforms like the internet, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Discord, the project expanded and improved. By December 22, 2022, Zavidia had a constitution, a planned army, an established government, and various other advancements in place.

The project continued in 2023, a year in which the flag underwent changes. The national coat of arms of Zavidia was designed and implemented into the flag. Additionally, improvements were made to the constitution, the drafting of the penal code began, and national animals and symbols were established. Logos for the armed forces and defense entities, such as the Zavidian Civil Guard, the National Police, and the Environmental Police (rural agents), were also designed, between other changes.

In 2023, the complete planning of the capital of the country, Zavidia (city), was carried out, including its streets, buildings, and zones. This encompassed everything from residential and commercial areas to police stations, auditoriums, clinics, and museums. Additionally, transportation and mobility for the country were planned, along with the economic sectors, among many other improvements.

On December 11 of the same year, a brief introduction and presentation of Zavidia were given at an exhibition held at a Spanish concerted education center for 4th-year students of Obligatory Secondary Education (E.S.O.).

MICRONATIONAL ERA

12/21/2023 - PRESENT

The micronational era stands out for the significant influence and diplomacy exercised by and towards micronations worldwide in connection with the Zavidia project.

Unofficially founded on December 21, 2023, Zavidia started with an initial territory of 12.97 m², a protectorate of approximately 12,291 m² in Guadarrama (Spain), and a decent arsenal of weapons.

From that moment, December 21 became the symbolic starting day, unrelated to Zavidia's official founding day.

As an established micronation, Zavidia initiated diplomatic relations with several micronations, engaging in conversations with numerous leaders worldwide. This effort led to the signing of a royal treaty of collaboration and friendship with the Republic of Gretigo, a micronation located in the United Kingdom.

On December 23, the Zavidian government acquired a .177 caliber (4.5 mm) rifle equipped with a high-capacity magazine, expanding Zavidia's arsenal to 9 rifles (6 of 4.5 mm and 3 of .22 caliber) and 2 pistols (both .177, one shooting lead projectiles and the other steel ones).

On December 28, the Zavidian territory expanded by claiming ownership of a plot of about 271.97 m² and another of about 8.33 m².

By December 29, 2023, Zavidia encompassed 293.27 square meters itself, including a large protectorate of 12,291.43 m².

On December 30, the borders were further expanded, gaining a few more square meters.

In 2024, specifically on January 8, the Zavidian government created the Federation of United Micronations (FMU), along with a small French micronation, the Republic of Euzerro. The federation grew, welcoming several more micronations, including the American ones "Strata," "Falenheld," and "Curnon." Later, the "Kingdom of Pantonia," a micronation located between Spain, America, Africa, and other places, also joined the federation.

On February 4, 2024, the Zavidian constitution was thoroughly reviewed, edited, and sanctioned, stored in the fundamental archive of Zavidia for the future. The constitution was established with a limit of 169 articles and 6 transitory provisions. Simultaneously, the drafting of the civil and commercial codes began.

On February 5, the official coat of arms of Zavidia was edited, placing the ruling dynasty (De Belaustegui) in the first position, as it was previously in the second. Additionally, the flag was changed by replacing the old coat of arms with the new one.

On February 6, the “Agrupe II” project commenced, involving a state-driven initiative to seek more investors, both individuals and companies. It also included the search for more serious and developed micronations to establish diplomatic relations with.

On Saturday, March 2, 2024, after several weeks of development, the official Zavidia website was published.

Later, on March 30, the “Plus Ultra” of the national coat of arms and flag was changed to the country's official motto, “De Parvis Grandis Acervus Erit” which translates as “From small things great things are nourished.” Symbolizing the great wealth and advances that the nation is expected to generate despite its small beginning and size. The change was seen as an opportunity to enhance the autonomy and identity of Zavidia and thus, while still worshiping the Spanish legacy, achieve a greater independent symbol.

Following the new policies, more independent, and seeking their own symbols, the Government embarked on a series of reforms that, apart from attracting even more members and professionals to the team, such as architects and vexilologists, made several significant changes in the defense and interior institutions. Among other things, the National Guard replaced the Civil Guard.

The flag was soon changed, as by the end of April 2024, during a brief period of time, the official flag was changed to one with the coat of arms slightly more centered. This design lasted until May 8, 2024, when, after days of debate in the councils and congresses of Zavidia, the new official flag was chosen, with the coat of arms more centered and somewhat larger.

After the approval of the flag, Zavidia began to grow and focus on social media, improving its official Discord server, establishing connections through Reddit, Twitter (X), and Instagram.

Among other things, the Royal Zavidian Navy was eliminated, as after analysis and debate alongside the flag selection, it was determined that it would be counterproductive in the future. The national police and national guard emblems were also edited, and several departments of both forces were likewise removed in favor of future efficiency.

Another major change was the establishment of a new external image for Zavidia for representation online and abroad. The yellow background, similar to Spain's, was changed to a blue background, matching the national flag.

Between May and June, Zavidian advances focused on both foreign and domestic policy, designing a large number of license plates and passports, as well as establishing more diplomatic relations with various contractors and foreign micronations to improve the design and technology of passports and national identity documents.

During the summer, Zavidia continued to make progress, focusing more on foreign policy and national identity, thereby securing multiple contacts in associations, governments, and local political parties, such as connections at the Argentine embassy in Madrid, a local trade association with over 200 companies, addresses of regional political parties, and so on.

In September, the process of obtaining possible accreditation for an official consulate in the United Kingdom began, although it would be delayed for some time. Finally, on October 7, 2024, Zavidia officially appointed its first official consul not only in the United Kingdom but in its history, Mr. Maher Kheder; who received the Silver Medal for Civil Excellence regarding overseas operations. , in addition to all the Zavidian diplomatic honors.
